Matthew Sedivy is an American musician, singer-songwriter, record producer, recording engineer and composer. He serves as the sole-member of his musical project SEDIVY and operates SEDIVY Productions, a full-stop, creative music company specializing in custom scores for advertising, film and television.

Starting from the simple love of playing guitar in his childhood home in Virginia, Matthew’s obsession of creating music grew from recording with a 4-track tape machine in his teens, to becoming self-taught with Logic Pro in high school, to eventually running and operating a multi-million dollar recording studio in his mid-twenties. 

After graduating with a degree in Music Industry and Classical Guitar Performance from James Madison University in 2014, Matthew’s career took a side-turn as he moved to Las Vegas, NV to produce and operate a comedy show at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino. During this period, Matthew continued to privately progress in his writing and production skills, with a single-focus of releasing his third, self-titled album, SEDIVY. 

In 2019, Matthew was hired as the recording engineer for Daniel Platzman and Imagine Dragons, providing both engineering and production to their 2021 double-album release, Mercury (produced by Rick Rubin), including a one month recording stint at Shangri-La Studio in Malibu, CA. He contributed to additional releases including Night Visions (Expanded Edition) in 2022 and Reflections (From the Vault of Smoke + Mirrors) in 2025.

Matthew’s cinematic production and writing lead to relationships with music licensing and publishing houses, with placements in advertisements, films and television, including a particular strength in original scores for national brand campaigns, documentaries and films. This includes custom advertising ranging across genres for clients such as Josh Cellars, Boars Head, Oakley, Perfect Snacks, 6666’s Ranch, Land Rover, Cavenders, 4Ocean, REI and more.

His recent film and documentary work includes Giants Do Fall, which premiered at the 2026 Mill Valley Film Festival; Best Day Ever, winner of Audience Choice Awards at the 2025 Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival and the 2025 Heartland International Film Festival; Cold War in Philly, the story of the Philadelphia Flyers’ 1976 game against the Soviet Red Army; and Mirasol: Looking at the Sun, which premiered at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and screened at Mountainfilm in Telluride.

His other credits include the PBS Nature documentaries American Horses and San Diego: America’s Wildest City and Cowboys: A Documentary Portrait, winner of the Audience Choice Award at the 2019 Austin Film Festival.

In addition to film and television, in 2025, Matthew wrote original music for the live theatre production of Lucy Prebble’s The Effect (directed by Sam Sulam) in Brooklyn, New York City.
